Why Are Enemy Combatants Getting Due Process?

On September 11th, 2001 the United States of America was deliberately and mallicously attacked by Al-Queda (a muslim extremist group). Since that terrible day, it has been clear to every intelligent thinking American, that we are at war with Islamic extremism and the terrorism that comes with that. So, with that in mind, why are we continuing to allow enemy combatants the freedom to defend themselves in a civilian court? Jurors in the trial of Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev are set to resume deliberations for a second day in the first phase of his federal death penalty trial. During the trial, Tsarnaev's lawyer admitted he participated in the deadly 2013 attack, but said his now-dead brother, Tamerlan, was the mastermind. If Tsaranev is convicted, the same jury will hear more evidence in a second phase of the trial to decide whether he is sentenced to death or life in prison. Seventeen of the charges against Tsarnaev carry the possibility of the death penalty. Three people were killed and more than 260 were injured when twin pressure-cooker bombs exploded near the marathon's finish line on April 15, 2013. Prosecutors told the jury that Tsarnaev, then 19, and his brother, 26, detonated the bombs to punish the U.S. for its wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Tsarnaev's lawyers portrayed him as an aimless teenager who fell under the influence of his radicalized older brother. In no way, shape, or form should this terrorist be allowed due process. We are at war. This enemy combatant should have already been executed. We need to send a message to the rest of the world that we will not bow down to terrorism in any form, and that we WILL punish any and all who attack the U.S. and their allies under the rules of WAR. Dzhokhar said he and his brother wanted to defend Islam from the U.S., which conducted the Iraq War and War in Afghanistan, in the view of the brothers, against Muslims. Later a CBS report revealed that a note scrawled by Dzhokhar with a marker on the interior wall of the boat where he was hiding said the bombings were "retribution for U.S. military action in Afghanistan and Iraq", and called the Boston victims 'collateral damage', "in the same way innocent victims have been collateral damage in U.S. wars around the world." So it is obvious that these two were in fact acting as enemy combatants. Let's end this ridiculous waste of tax payers money, and hang this f**ker from the highest tree!
